Not much known about Charles Parkes, who died in 1693.
In 1675 he build a water mill in partnership with John Willett,
a merchant. in November 1677 an Indian brought a gun to Parkes to
be repaires. Parkes claimed that the gun had been impressed from him
"in the time of the Horrid and unhappy Rebellion" and was never
returned. The Court closed this case in his favour.
When Charles Parkes Sr. died, he left his "Shop of Tools" to his son
Charles Parkes Jr. "one other Gunn well fixed" was given to Thomas Parkes,
another son.
the inventory of the estate of Edmund Bebbs who died in 1696 included
"one Gunn Stockt by Charles Parkes." This was certainly Charles Parkes Sr
since no records found that his son Charles was also a gunsmith.
